Girard America Legion Post 494 will host a parade and service, as well as an America250PA service on May 25.

The parade will step off from the post at 2 pm. and make its way to Main Street, east on Main, north on Church Street to St John Cemetery.

At 1 pm a service to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Pot 494 Judge Advocate ad Honor Guard member Al Noble will give a brief speech.  There will also be a laying of a wreath. The service will include the American Legion Post 494 Color Guard and Honor Guard with a firing squad that will conduct a 21 gun salute, followed by the playing of “Taps”.

The borough is also celebrating its 180th anniversary this year, and a banner will be placed on the stage outside of the borough building.
